Yes, they are the best I have ever made and I’m in my 60’s. Love the crispy topping and moistness of these brownies. I had never heard of beating the eggs and vanilla vigorously for one minute to achieve a crispy top, but it certainly did. They made for an excellent Valentine dessert!

In reply to Jeffrey D Ketterer. I don't add chips at the end, only the melted chocolate. I find these plenty rich without them. And I think the texture is better. They turn out perfect every time.

These are excellent without a doubt! I doubled the recipe and baked for a little more than 35 minutes in a doubled up aluminum pan that was 9 × 13. My only question is, would they turn out okay if you omitted the chocolate chips at the end that you fold into the batter? I used 2 cups of milk chocolate chips (remember, I doubled the recipe) and they were kind of “crunchy” when you chewed the brownies. I had a couple people ask me if there were nuts in my brownies…I said “no” & that it was the chocolate chips that they were noticing. I do think the recipe is “chocolatety” enough that they wouldn’t be missed if they were left out.

I honestly can’t eat store bought brownies anymore, have been using this recipe for years. I sprinkle sea salt flakes on top too 🙂

In reply to Nancy. I highly recommend sticking with the recipe as written on this one. This recipe took 17 rounds of testing and oil wasn't a winner. They were greasy.

Hi Rachel, how are you ? I just came across your amazing recipes not too long ago. I’d like to try the Best brownie recipe and I was just wondering do I need to use butter or can I use oil as well ? Also , if I were to try it with oil howmuch would I use if I were to use it instead of butter ? Is it a 1:1 ratio or less ? Can’t wait to try your amazing chocolate cake as well. I will be trying some of your recipes one by one they all look delicious.. Thank you again for sharing all your amazing recipes.
