I love this recipe. Making it for the 3rd time tomorrow. However, you don’t put in there to drain fat after cooking meat, so I haven’t been. Is there a reason for this or should I have been draining the fat lol.

UPDATE: Getting ready to serve yet another Lasagna meal to some of our brave officers in my city. At this point my wife and I have made about 670 servings of this wonderful lasagna over the last 14 months for our brave man and women of law enforcement. I was told, yet again, from one of the local FOP members that this Lasagna was the best she had ever eaten. I still remember sitting across from an officer sitting down to eat before he goes out on patrol. He had just put a bite of lasagna into his mouth, and I watched as he paused, looked around at the room at the other officers and said, “man this is good.” You could not get a better endorsement than that. Cops don’t just hand out compliments unless they mean it. They don’t waist words or blow smoke. Thank you, Rachel, for this culinary masterpiece. These wonderful folks who wear the badge and put it all on the line for us deserve this meal!

This was amazing! The sauce was to die for.
I am used to making my own homemade sauces, so the time involved wasn’t an issue for me. The hint about soaking the noddles was much appreciated. Thank you.

If you freeze the lasagna, you can cook it either from frozen or thawed—it just depends on what works best for you. If you’re cooking from frozen, cover it with foil and bake at 375°F for about 90 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 20-30 minutes until it’s hot and bubbly. If you have time to thaw it overnight in the fridge, it’ll bake faster—about 45-60 minutes at 375°F, uncovered. Both ways work great.

With crushed tomatoes, they are already nearly pureed and then the sauce gets cooked down so there are no tomato chunks in this lasagna. Your family will be in good hands.

You’ll need about 2 standard 24-ounce jars of marinara sauce to replace the homemade sauce. This should give you the right amount to layer generously.
